Sport

The College is committed to the education and development of the whole person and as such sport and physical activity play an integral part. Our program offers a breadth of opportunities across individual and team sports, encouraging all students to be involved while also providing outstanding pathways for those who aspire to achieve at the highest level.

Weekly Sport Lessons

Primary

All primary students have one sport lesson per week in addition to PDHPE, led by the Sport and Coaching Team. These lessons focus on developing fundamental movement skills and introducing technical skills at an age-appropriate level. A highlight of our primary program are the interhouse competitions in basketball, football (soccer), netball, and touch football, where students apply their skills while competing for their house.

Secondary

Students in Years 7-10 have a double period of sport each week.  Year 7 and 8 students participate in a variety of assigned sports, grouped by house and gender to encourage maximum engagement. Students in Year 9 and 10 have the opportunity to elect their preferred sport from the many options available, allowing for a more recreational focus.

Interhouse sport

Every student belongs to one of our four College Houses: Brockington (blue), Purcival (green), Smith (red) and Walker (yellow) creating a sense of identity, teamwork and community. The House system comes to life during our major sporting carnivals in swimming, cross country and athletics, where students compete with spirit and pride for their house. Primary students also enjoy interhouse sporting competitions in our major team sports. Beyond competition, the house system also provides the foundation of the wellbeing structure in the Secondary School.

Representative Sport

As a member of the North Coast Independent Schools (NCIS) Sports Association, EAC students can progress from local competition to state representation through CIS and even to the national stage with School Sport Australia.
