An update from Mr Tobias.

What an incredible few days our Study Team has had in Seattle! We have been immersed in learning, innovation and some truly inspiring educational environments.

A major highlight was visiting the Downtown School (a campus of the renowned Lakeside School). As a school whose most famous graduate is Bill Gates, their legacy of focusing on technology and innovation is clearly continuing. It was fascinating to see how they are leading the way in adopting AI into teaching and learning.

We also spent valuable time at the University Child Development School. Their commitment to teacher growth includes a year long internship program where teachers team teach across all primary grades. Their campus was also a fantastic model of design, including specialist science and technology rooms.

For two days, we met with Tim Fish, a leader in Innovation in education and formerly the head of innovation and learning for the independent school association of America. It was fascinating to look at trends in school design, curriculum innovation and AI. The intensive trip concluded with a fascinating all-day change management simulation with Experience Point.

Our next stop is Canada.

We are thrilled to announce that our First LEGO League group (The EAC GroundBreakers) of students represented the College brilliantly at the Regional Championship on Saturday, October 11th.

They are the proud winners of the Robot Design award! This is a massive achievement and a testament to their hard work, creativity and technical brilliance.

They have secured a spot at the National Championships in Brisbane this November.

We wish them all the very best as they prepare for the next stage of the competition! Go team!

Good luck Class of ‘25! 🀞 Keep calm, take deep breaths, you’ve got this! πŸ‘ It will all be over soon πŸ§‘‍πŸŽ“

Our Principal Mr Tobias is having a productive time on his Enrichment Leave, sending back reports from the United States!

A key focus of his study tour with the Association of Independent Schools is exploring best practices in education and leadership and the tour is offering some exciting parallels to our own programs:

Marine Program Connections: He visited the Chadwick School in the LA Hills, it is an independent K-12 school whose Alta Sea Ocean Institute takes students to their LA harbour campus for project based learning on marine life. This innovative, hands on program is a fantastic parallel to our very own Coastal College and Marine Biology program!

The study group have spent time at Stanford University learning about Design Thinking, a powerful tool for innovation. They visited a high school where this concept is central. The students design the curriculum and environment and to ensure equity, the school is free and uses a lottery system for admission.

A commitment to continuous improvement extends to staff as each year, teachers must also complete their own design project as part of the Exhibition of Learning!

We can't wait to hear how these global ideas will inspire our staff and students and look forward to further updates!

πŸ‰Touch Football Australia National Youth Championships πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Huge shoutout to Emmanuel's own Asha L and Manu H, representing NSWCIS last week at the Touch Football Australia National Youth Championships in Coffs Harbour.

After impressing at the CIS Championships earlier this year, the girls earned their spots in the U18 NSWCIS team and took on some of the best young touch players from across the country. Over four big days, they played nine games, holding their own on the national stage and helping the team win five of their eight pool games before edging out the Hunter Western Hornets 7–6 in a tight playoff.

This saw the CIS U18 Girls finish 7th out of 17 teams in a super competitive age group.

Well done Asha and Manu - awesome effort!
